Who We Are
The CSDF is a moderate-left political party that is part of the Confederation of Democratic Simulators (CDS) in Second Life.
Our Vision
It is our belief that as a community we can enjoy the rich society that grows from collective decision making and together set standards for the common visual and audible spaces that we share. The CDS provides opportunities to establish common goals, create common projects, and develop common space. It is our purpose to make membership in participatory, democratically run communities available to everyone who logs in to Second Life, and eventually to every online 3D environment.
We are implementing this vision by extending the CDS republic and growing our three small islands into a new continent. We want to build a vibrant virtual nation, being sure in the process to allow direct participation and contributions from all citizens.
It is our goal to make the CDS a center for excellence in virtual architecture, design, and trade. We can do this by investing in our own citizen’s skills, by offering free design and business education to everyone who is willing to put in the effort to learn; using voluntary student projects to help plan and build our new islands and public spaces. We can do this by supporting our citizens in building their own businesses and voluntary organizations.
Each of us has something to offer the community. We oppose an organization that puts a small group of professionals in charge. We want to allow people from many walks of life and skills to contribute and have a say in factors that effect their lives online. Our focus is on empowering our own citizens to build our community and economy.
The CDS is a multi-cultural society, each of us a tile in a larger mosaic. Each of us is needed in our pursuit of excellence: in architecture, in crafts, in debate and organization. It is not by accident that CSDF leadership contributed major efforts to building CDS islands, organizations, and businesses. We have already proven success in talking a step towards implementing our vision. Together, we can expand and sustain that vision and make the CDS into a new democratic guiding light in Second Life.
